Opening Statement

 

With the advent of game engine movie-making {machinima} and the infinite possibilities that this new medium has for movie making both as an art form in the traditional sense of story telling, and, as an interactive event in the sense of the evolutionary development of the game playing medium - The need for screenplay development has never been greater.

machinima blue sets out to provide a service for individual screenplay development. Screenplays, being the blue prints of movies no matter how they`re made, have an importance that cannot be under estimated.

The Evolutionary Approach

"Evolution" here is defined in the Grand sense; the competitive and symbiotic development of a meta-reality (ecosystem) determined by the stochastic (Gr. many spears) principle. If the rich, dynamic but stable ecosystem of a tropical rain forest is taken as the metaphor for the finished screenplay, then it has come about by the evolutionary forces of competition and symbiosis acting on characters (species) and their relationships over time inside of the meta-reality of infinite possibilities (stochastic principle). The evolutionary approach has great advantages over film theory based development in that it applies a structural format to a creative art form which doesn't look back to the past for examples, or, categories in terms of genre. But, is open-ended and open to the development of the medium itself. This is a new era in movie making history and it needs a new approach to the development of the movie blueprint - Evolution.
